Sealyham Terriers were bred in 1850 to go to ground to rout the badger or any other predator that would destroy the crops of the farmers. The Sealyham was born in Sealyham, Haverfordwest, Wales near the river Ayr. Captain Edwards wanted a small, robust terrier that was intelligent, of good appearance and courageous. They are a sturdy little breed with good substance 10 1/2 in. high, weighing 21 lbs. and should be as tall as long. The Sealyham is white on the body and can have tan, lemon, badger or blue badger marking on the head. They will make you laugh as they are the clowns of the Terrier family. He should be of good temperament. The Sealyham is a very loyal dog to his family. Typically, they will not make friends with strangers until they see that his master accepts them.
